Fremantle Prison

The touch screens were one of the most popular components of the exhibition, being mentioned repeatedly in the visitors’ books at each of the tour venues. Visitors enjoyed the interactivity of the screens, which enhanced their understanding of the exhibition story. Professional feedback was extremely positive, with both the Australian National Maritime Museum and Port Arthur consulting GMG Multimedia on touch screen programs.

The Visions of Australia touring exhibitions committee appreciated the innovative approach to exhibition interpretation. They stated ‘to make particular mention of the innovative interactive displays for the manuscripts and documents that were considered too fragile to tour’ in a letter to the Fremantle Prison Executive Manager.

Due to their popularity and accessibility the touch screens have continued to be displayed at Fremantle Prison since the exhibition concluded.
